Jan Willem Scholten

Jan Willem Scholten is a seasoned professional in international relations, currently serving as a Senior Policy Officer in the Strategic Policy Planning Department at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken since September 2021. Previously, Jan Willem held the position of Diplomat at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Turkey, where responsibilities included overseeing domestic politics and human rights issues, along with public diplomacy. Jan Willem has also contributed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Policy Officer in the Europe Department, focusing on significant matters such as the MH17 incident and relations with Visegrad-4 countries. Early career roles include advising on digital security at ECP Platform voor de InformatieSamenleving and participating in The National Think Tank 2014. Jan Willem holds a Master's degree in Advanced International Studies from Diplomatische Akademie Wien and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from the University of Oxford.
