Marleen Nieuwenhuizen

Marleen Nieuwenhuizen is a Senior Juridisch Adviseur at the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken, specializing in European law with key focus areas including Rule of Law, transparency, asylum and migration, gender equality, and EU citizenship. Previously served as a Juridisch Adviseur and Trainee Overheidsjurist in the Directie Juridische Zaken - Afdeling Europees Recht. A brief tenure at the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the EU allowed for further development in legal and institutional matters. Marleen gained experience as a paralegal focusing on immigration law and personal injury, alongside various roles in academic and extracurricular settings related to law. Marleen holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in European Law from Utrecht University and a Master's degree in Government from the Academie voor Overheidsjuristen, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Law from University College Utrecht.
