Site Manager At Historic Forestville at Minnesota Historical Society

Matt Eidem has a diverse work experience in the field of museums, libraries, and archives. Matt started their career as an Archivist Intern at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Libraries Archives Department in 2011, where they provided services to users, assisted with preservation projects, and appraised donations. Matt then worked as an Archival Intern at the Milwaukee Public Library from 2010 to 2012, processing archival records and manuscript collections.

In 2012, Matt joined the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library as an Archivist, where they developed processing workflows, supervised the creation of finding aids, and collaborated with the library cataloger to develop templates for creating MARC records.

From 2015 to 2018, Matt worked at the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County. Initially, they served as a Site Manager for the Historic Solomon Gilman Comstock House, managing tours and overseeing various tasks including vacuuming and boiler maintenance. Matt then took on the role of Director of Museum Operations, where they coordinated exhibits, logistics for special events, and managed the museum's IT infrastructure.

Lastly, Matt worked as a Site Manager at Historic Forestville for the Minnesota Historical Society starting in 2018.

Matt Eidem began their education at Concordia College from 2003 to 2007, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Economics. Matt then attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2008 to 2009 and obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science and Technology. Continuing their education, they pursued a Master's degree at the same institution from 2010 to 2011, specializing in Library & Information Science with a concentration in Archival Studies.
