David King

VP Corporate Partnerships at Minnesota Timberwolves

David King enters his second season as the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships. Reporting directly to Chief Operating Officer Ryan Tanke, King oversees partnership sales and activation for the Timberwolves (NBA), Lynx (WNBA), and T-Wolves Gaming (E-Sports NBA 2K League).

In his role as Vice President of Corporate Sponsorship, King leads the organization in fostering long-term relationships with brands that are aligned with our mission that will impact their business and enhance the team’s fans experience. He fosters two key areas of business around the corporate sponsorship space within the organization. Those areas are sales; building relationships with local, national, and international brands and second, activation; being responsible for maintaining, developing, and supporting existing relationship and finding new ways to enhance the fan experience.

As part of the organization’s COVID-19 response, King led his staff in working with corporate partners to complete the 2019-20 season relationships while reshaping future 2020-21 season partnerships to align with the current climate. He also spearheaded virtual experiences and high-impact signage platforms which led to a positive fan and partner experiences.

King previously served as the organization’s Director of Partnership Sales, and has been with the company since July 2014, where he started as Partnership Sales Manager. Prior to Minnesota, King spent five (5) seasons in premium/service management roles for Major League Baseball’s Oakland Athletics. With the Athletics, King was instrumental in reimaging and selling through premium levels and enhancing those experiences at the Oakland Coliseum.

A native of Cary, North Carolina, King earned his Professional Masters of Sports Administration from Ohio University, after receiving a degree in Business and Sports administration from Barton College, where he was a four-year letter winner and member of the 2007 Division II National Championship Men’s Basketball team.

He currently volunteers and coaches with Special Olympics Minnesota and is currently a member of the Young Professional Board for SO Minnesota, actively coaching basketball, and football. King resides in Robbinsdale with his wife, Megan, and their son, Silas. The King family is expecting their next child in June of 2021.
