Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development at Minnesota Timberwolves

Kevin Hanson begins his second year as Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development with the Timberwolves. Prior to joining the Wolves, Hanson spent eight seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans, the last five as assistant coach, where he was instrumental in the development of Anthony Davis.

Hanson joined the Pelicans in 2012 as the team’s player development coach before being elevated to assistant coach. He joined the San Antonio Spurs in the summer of 2008 as an assistant video coordinator and was named the Spurs’ player development assistant in the summer of 2010. He served as an assistant coach for the Spurs summer league teams each of his last two seasons. Hanson played four seasons at the University of San Diego and after college spent five seasons playing professionally overseas ibn Argentina and Germany.

Born and raised in Huntington Beach, Calif., Hanson led Ocean View High School to a CIF Championship. He played four seasons at University of San Diego, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in sociology. After college, Hanson spent five seasons playing professionally overseas in Argentina and Germany.
