Samrawit Gougsa began their work experience in 2011 as a volunteer at New Life Teen Challenge. In 2012, they volunteered at the World Food Programme as a part of the Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM) team. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Correspondent for The Global Panorama. In 2014, they interned at Population Services International, where they monitored media presence, supported Facebook strategy, and conducted research for the organization's publication. Starting in 2016, Samrawit worked at InterHealth as a Training and Communications Officer, responsible for managing newsletter distributions and maintaining the company's website. In 2017, they became a Communications Officer at People in Need. Their most recent position is at Minority Rights Group International, where they started as a Communications Officer in 2018 and is currently serving as the Head of Communications.
Samrawit Gougsa holds a Master's Degree in Global Health and Development from UCL, a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd, and a High School Diploma with an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Marymount International School of Rome.
