Maarten concentrates his practice on private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, general corporate matters, and commercial contracts. He primarily represents private equity sponsors in buyouts, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and restructurings. He also works with companies in a wide variety of industries, including health care, financial services, construction, hospitality, and retailers.

Prior to joining Mintz, Maarten served as an associate in the New York offices of two US-based global law firms, where he worked on a broad range of private equity and M&A matters. Earlier, he was a corporate and antitrust associate at an international law firm based in Amsterdam.

Maarten also maintains an active pro bono practice that has included advising nonprofit organizations focused on family homelessness and the LGBTQ community in New York and assisting clemency petitioners and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) applicants.
