Misnomer Dance Theater is an innovative, award-winning company and a fast-paced mover-and-shaker in the arts world. Whether moving people through its art, or building transformative platforms for audience engagement, Misnomer creates experimental, unexpected, and powerful ways for artists and audiences to create and find meaning together.

Founded by choreographer Chris Elam, the company’s work has been recognized as “one of the top ten dance performances” of the year by The New York Times and has performed in over 300 theaters in fourteen countries. The company creates and tours original dance and pursues distinctive artistic, innovative and engaging initiatives, with recent projects including working with Bjork, Apple and the Sundance Channel.
