Principle Scientist (Bioinformatics) at MISSION Therapeutics

John C. Thomas has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. John C. is currently working as a Principal Scientist (Bioinformatics) at Mission Therapeutics since February 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Bioinformatician at the University of Cambridge from June 2018. In this role, they were responsible for analyzing biological data and developing pipelines and visualization tools. Additionally, they worked as a Post-doctoral Researcher at the University of York from May 2017 to April 2018, focusing on network analysis of plant and microbe communities. John also pursued their PhD at the University of York from October 2012 to October 2016, conducting research on the biotic degradation of Metaldehyde. Before entering the academic field, John worked as a Teaching Assistant at the British School of Guangzhou, where they taught primary school children and conducted a module on robotics and programming. John C. gained experience in coaching and leadership during their tenure at Royal Mail, where they served as an MDEC Keyer, Coach, and Team Leader from February 2003 to March 2008.

John C. Thomas completed their education with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biology from Staffordshire University in 2010. John C. then pursued a Master of Research (MRes) degree in Post-genomic Biology at the University of York, graduating in 2012. Following this, they continued their studies at the University of York and obtained a PhD in Mechanistic Biology in the years 2012 to 2016.
