Senior Scientist CNS at MISSION Therapeutics

Nora Markus has a diverse work experience in the fields of neuroscience and biomedicine. Nora is currently working as a Senior Scientist CNS at Mission Therapeutics. Prior to this role, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The University of Sheffield, where they collaborated with BenevolentAI to find novel therapeutics for ALS. Nora also held positions at The University of Edinburgh, including Laboratory Demonstrator, Research Assistant, PhD student, and Facilitator for Honours Neuroscience. Nora has expertise in pro-survival and pro-death calcium signaling pathways and has utilized primary murine cultures, microscopy, and molecular biology techniques in their research. Additionally, they had a summer lab placement at The University of Edinburgh, where they developed a colorimetric cell-free assay.

Nora Markus completed their education with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Neuroscience) from The University of Edinburgh, which they achieved from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biological Sciences (with Honours Neuroscience) from the same institution between 2009 and 2012. Nora began their educational journey at Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium, where they earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma from 2007 to 2009, with a focus on Biology, Chemistry, and History at a Higher Level, and Maths, English, and Hungarian at a Standard Level. Lastly, from 2002 to 2007, they attended the International School of The Hague and completed the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
