Duncan Preston has extensive experience in the energy and sustainability sectors. Duncan began their career in 2008 as a Country Manager at Vitol Group of Companies. In 2010, they took on the role of Business Development Manager, Africa at Vitol B.V., where they were responsible for building Vitol's presence in the energy markets in Africa and closing a long term supply contract to a greenfield power project in West Africa. In 2015, they moved to Cornerstone Global Commodities as Business Development, where they worked with companies with portfolios in soft commodities, metals and oil. In 2017, they joined Helena as Director of Energy and Sustainability, a think-tank of global leaders focused on executing projects that improve the world. In 2015, they also founded Net Zero Ventures. In 2022, they will become Head of Commercial at Mission Zero Technologies, a DAC startup with a patent-pending breakthrough technology.
Duncan Preston obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Economics and Statistics from the University of Southampton between 1991 and 1994. Duncan then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Southern California between 2018 and 2019. In 2021, they obtained a Certificate in Sustainability from UCLA Extension. Additionally, in November 2020, they obtained an edX Verified Certificate for Climate Change: Carbon Capture and Storage from edX.
