Michael Bajek

Vice President Of Facilities And Operations at Mississippi Aquarium

Michael Bajek has extensive work experience in the aquarium industry. Michael currently holds the position of Vice President of Facilities and Operations at the Mississippi Aquarium. Prior to this, they served as the Life Support System Manager and Dive Safety Officer at the Aquarium At The Boardwalk from 2019 to 2021. From 2015 to 2019, Michael was the Director of Life Support Systems at Johnny Morris' Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium. Michael also worked at Landry's as the Life Support System Manager and Dive Safety Manager from 2006 to 2015. Michael's earlier roles include being a Life Support Operator and Aquarist Curatorial at the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay, as well as a Maintenance Technician at Dixon University Center. Michael started their career as an Aquarist/Horticulturalist at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.

Michael Bajek completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography from Millersville University of Pennsylvania from 2002 to 2003. Michael also previously earned another Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Botany/Plant Biology from the same university from 1998 to 2002. In addition to their academic achievements, Michael Bajek has obtained multiple certifications related to safety awareness, valve repair, welding, pool and spa operation, water quality technology, emergency response, and scuba diving. These certifications were obtained from various institutions between 2010 and 2020.
