Arya is a student at MIT and a former software engineer and head of data science. Arya has a passion for big data and the physical sciences, and has worked on projects related to both during their career.
Arya began their career as a software engineer at Bridgewater Associates, where they worked for two years before moving on to New York University. At NYU, Arya served as a Henry M. MacCracken Fellow, leading the planning and execution of a series of activities to define the research agenda and infrastructure requirements of the newly established applied sciences research center.
In 2016, Arya left NYU to take on the role of head of data science at Jana, a startup focused on recommendation systems and product development. Arya managed a team of 10 data scientists and software engineers, and helped guide the company through its early stages of growth.
Arya is currently pursuing their studies at MIT, with a focus on big data and the physical sciences. Arya hopes to continue working on projects that combine their interests in these two areas, and to make a positive impact on the world through their work.
Arya has a Master of Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and is currently ABD (All But Dissertation) for their Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics from New York University. They also have two SBs (Bachelors of Science) from MIT, one in Computer Science and one in Physics.
