Pierre Vella

Pierre Vella joined MITA, then known as Management Systems Unit Ltd, in March 1996 following a nine-year tenure within the Public Service. Pierre has actively contributed to a number of high profile reform projects within the Ministry of Finance, mainly related to tax and fiscal policy with the main initiatives being the implementation of diverse Information Systems projects in relation to the Final Settlement System (FSS) and the introduction Self-Assessment regime within the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).

Pierre was appointed Project Manager in June 2000, where he managed various key transformational projects such as the launch of Inland Revenue Services On-Line, the Corporate Tax Return process and the major introduction of the Non-Filing concept, where the vast majority of taxpayers are not required to lodge Income Tax Returns thanks to the integration of various related information systems.
