Director, Native American Law And Sovereignty Institute at MITCHELL HAMLINE SCHOOL OF LAW

Angelique EagleWoman serves as the Director and Co-Director of the Native American Law and Sovereignty Institute at Mitchell Hamline School of Law since August 2018, while also fulfilling roles as a Professor and Visiting Professor. In addition, EagleWoman holds the position of Chief Justice of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Supreme Court since November 2020. Previous academic roles include Dean and Professor of Law at Bora Laskin Faculty of Law and Professor of Law at the University of Idaho College of Law, where instruction focused on civil procedure and Native American law. EagleWoman has contributed to various tribal courts as a Special Judge and has extensive legal experience including serving as General Counsel for the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate. Academic credentials include an LLM in American Indian & Indigenous Law, a JD, and a BA in Political Science.
