Matthew Tonkin has over 19 years of professional experience in software engineering and product management. Matthew began their career in 2001 as a Project Officer at DECS, where they were responsible for the strategic IT direction in DETE schools in South Australia. In 2004, they joined Opdicom Pty Ltd as a Senior Mac Engineer and continued in this role until 2006. Matthew then moved to NovaMind Software as a Senior Mac Engineer, where they were responsible for feature specification, design, implementation, defect resolution, performance optimisation, packaging and deployment. In 2008, they joined Skitch Inc. as a Principal Mac Engineer and was the sole Mac engineer until Skitch was acquired by Evernote in 2011. At Evernote, they were a Senior Mac Engineer and was predominantly focused on application layer and UI development. In 2014, they joined Alive Mobile Group as a Senior iOS Architect and was responsible for leading the technical design of Alive's iOS applications for iPhone and iPad. Matthew then went on to join All Turtles in 2018 as a Lead Apple Developer, where they worked with All Turtles studio companies to develop clients for macOS, iOS, tvOS and watchOS. Currently, they are an Apple Platforms Engineer at mmhmm.

Matthew Tonkin attended the University of South Australia from 2003 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business in Management of Information Technology. Prior to that, they attended the University of Adelaide from 1997 to 1999 and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Systems.
