Chhitiz Varma has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Chhitiz is currently working as a Technical Superintendent at Seven Islands Shipping Ltd. Prior to this, they worked at MMS Maritime from 2008 to 2021, where they held the positions of Chief Engineer and First Assistant. In these roles, they led a team of Engineers and support staff, managed and operated Marine Assets with a value of $30-50 million, and handled high-risk cargo worth $40-70 million. Chhitiz achieved zero incidents in a high-risk environment and implemented innovative ways to optimize the operation of marine assets, resulting in reduced fuel consumption of prime movers. Before joining MMS Maritime, Chhitiz worked at The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. from 2000 to 2007, starting as a Trainee Engineer and progressing to the positions of Second/Third/Fourth/Fifth Engineer.
Chhitiz Varma completed a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Engineering College, Shegaon from 1996 to 2000. Later, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration and Management, General from the Indian Institute of Management, Indore from 2018 to 2020. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained a certification in MEO CL 1 Motor FG from DG SHIPPING LIMITED in November 2010. Furthermore, Chhitiz Varma participated in a Global Immersion program at NBS Alumni Affairs, NTU in 2019, where they studied International Business, Strategic Human Resource, AI Blockchain, and Business Models.
