Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA)
Virginia Sweetser, LCSW, LSCSW, RPT, currently serves as the Counseling Coordinator at the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA), where responsibilities include program coordination and counseling services for survivors of sexual violence and youth with behavioral problems. With extensive experience in therapy, Virginia has provided individual and family therapy at various organizations and has contributed over 5,000 volunteer hours to MOCSA. Additionally, Virginia is an Adjunct Instructor at UMKC teaching Core Concepts of Child and Adolescent Trauma. Educational qualifications include a Master of Social Work from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Play Therapy Certification from MidAmerica Nazarene University. Prior military service as a Sergeant in the US Army and expertise in crisis intervention and trauma support further complement Virginia's professional background.

MOCSA’s mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault and to prevent sexual violence in our community. Together we can create a community free from sexual assault and abuse. Our services are free of charge and available to survivors and their families in the Kansas City metropolitan area. We offer the following services: - 24-hour Crisis Services: 816-531-0233 & 913-642-0233 - Advocacy: hospital, legal, police, and court advocacy; support groups - Counseling: individual and group therapy - Education: age-appropriate programs for children in elementary, middle, and high schools; training for advocates, counselors, law enforcement, restaurant and bar staff, and other professionals - Prevention: supporting community based coalitions in both Missouri and Kansas to prevent sexual assault and other forms of violence
