Darren Shimkus

Darren Shimkus is the current CEO and Founder at Modal.io. Prior to this, they were the President and GM of Udemy Business from January 2015 to December 2020. During their time there, they grew the company from $1M to over $100M in ARR in 5 years. Before Udemy, Darren was the SVP Global Sales at mophie from January 2013 to December 2015 where they led sales and scaled revenue to more than $250M for the wearables and accessory company. From 2007 to 2013, Darren was the SVP Channel Sales, Marketing, and Business Development at Credant Technologies where they ran channel sales, marketing, and business development for the enterprise security company. Darren also led the company's acquisition by Dell in 2012. From 2006 to 2007, Darren was the Director of Business Development at TalkPlus. And from 2005 to 2006, they were a Senior Product Manager at Good Powered by BlackBerry. Darren began their career in 1997 as a Director at CEB, now Gartner.

Darren Shimkus has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BA in Economics from William & Mary. Darren is also certified as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the CFA Institute.
