Brian McKinney

Brian McKinney has a strong background in engineering and leadership roles. Starting in 2008 at Reframe It, Inc. as the Chief Technology Officer, they architected and managed the development of reframeit.com. Brian then co-founded Nearest Island, Inc. in 2010, where they served as the CTO and designed a platform for providing third-party-curated information about consumer goods. In 2011, they joined Mightybell as a Senior Engineer and contributed to the development of web and API applications. From 2011 to 2013, they worked at Tango Group as the Director of Engineering, Operations, Product Management, and Design, where they successfully shipped two major releases of their product. Brian then joined GridCraft, Inc. in 2013 as the Director of Application Development, leading client-facing development and contributing significantly to their web-based single-page application. Brian transitioned to Workday in 2015, where they held various roles, including Senior Director of Product and Engineering and Director of Software Engineering, responsible for building products and frameworks and participating in Workday's M&A process. Brian later joined Bonusly in 2020 as the Vice President of Engineering. In 2021, Brian joined Square as the Head of Engineering, Payment Products, and in 2023, they became the Head of Payments Engineering at Modern Treasury.

Brian McKinney attended the University of Colorado Boulder from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
