VP Engineering at Modernize

Andy Michaelis is the Vice President of Engineering at Modernize, where they have been a member of the executive team since 2017. Andy is responsible for tripling the size of the engineering team and supporting double-digit growth across the organization, which eventually led to a successful acquisition by a public company.

Under Andy's leadership, Modernize's engineering team moved from deploying code once a week to several times a day, and migrated the legacy codebase to an updated REST API consumed throughout the organization's key systems. Andy also managed IT, DevOps, Product, QA, Design, and back end and front end engineering teams across the entire organization.

Some of Andy's notable accomplishments include automating the publishing of all campaign updates to Google, GDN, and Facebook with budgets of over 2 million a month; migrating all ETLs to a centralized Airflow server responsible for logging, scheduling, and execution; and integrating with a front end analytics platform to capture all client-side events and funnel them into redshift and QlikView reports. Andy has also made countless enhancements to Modernize's call center software, including migration to consume a central API infrastructure, best in class UI agent script, and full migration to Twillio's IVR. In addition, they have launched several homeowner facing SEO products that have grown organic revenue by over 300%.

Andy Michaelis completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Education from Northern Illinois University and then went on to study Computer Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
