Tom Byers

Tom Byers has extensive experience in the healthcare and insurance industry. Tom currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of ModernMD Urgent Care since June 2014. Under their leadership, ModernMD has grown from a startup to a successful urgent care network with multiple centers in the New York City market. Tom is focused on transforming the medical delivery model by providing high-quality, easily accessible, and low-cost care to a diverse population.

Prior to joining ModernMD, Tom was the Chief Operating Officer of AccessMD Urgent Care/Hometown Urgent Care from June 2012 to June 2014. Tom also served as the Area Vice President at CorVel Corporation from September 2007 to June 2012.

Before that, Tom was the Executive Vice President of RTW, Inc., a publicly traded insurance carrier specializing in workers' compensation coverage. During their tenure from March 2005 to August 2007, they expanded the company's solutions to the self-insured market.

Tom's experience also includes serving as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Fiserv - DirectCompRx in 2004 and the Vice President of SI Operations, Sales & Marketing at Nationwide Insurance - GatesMcDonald from November 1999 to March 2004.

Tom began their career as the Divisional President of Anthem Comp Services, a workers' compensation and unemployment claims management company. Tom'sleadership resulted in a successful divestiture of the company, which was sold to Nationwide Insurance. Tom held this position from February 1997 to November 1999.
