Andy Vandawalker

Andy Vandawalker serves as the Deputy Fire Chief, Municipal Fire Instructor, EMS Coordinator, and Fire Investigator at the Village of Ilion Fire Department since February 2002. Responsibilities include conducting cause and origin determinations for fire and explosion incidents and coordinating with law enforcement agencies. Andy has extensive experience as a Firefighter/Paramedic specializing in rope rescue, ambulance operations, and fleet maintenance. Additionally, Andy is a State Fire Instructor for the New York State Department of State OFPC, where responsibilities involve instructing the State's fire service curriculum and participating in curriculum development. Previous roles include Certified Lab Instructor and Paramedic Student Mentor at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare, focusing on training and evaluation of Paramedic and EMT students. Andy is pursuing an Associate of Science in Fire Science/Fire-fighting at Columbia Southern University, following earlier education from the Faxton-St. Luke's Paramedic Program and Utica Fire Academy.
