Joule Garvin

Senior Art Lead at Mojang Studios

Joule Garvin has extensive experience in the gaming industry, with a focus on 3D art and game design. They started their career at Fledgling Studios in 2012 as a 3D Artist, before moving on to roles at Oxus Entertainment and Thursday Games. At Oxus Entertainment, they worked as a Game Designer and 3D Artist, while at Thursday Games, they were a Contract 3D Modeler. In 2013, Joule co-founded Black Howler Studios, where they served as a Co-Founder and primarily worked as a 3D artist, but also contributed to Art Direction, Game Design, Technical Direction, and Marketing. In 2015, Joule joined Mojang Studios as a 3D Artist and later progressed to the roles of Art Lead and Senior Art Lead. They are currently employed by Mojang Studios.

Joule Garvin obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree in Visual Communication from Northwest College of Art & Design, which they attended from 2010 to 2013. Prior to that, they attended Utah State University: Eastern from 2007 to 2010, where they earned an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Graphic Design and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in General Studies, with a focus in Spanish.
