Tao Liang

VP Of Engineering at Mojo Vision

Tao Liang has an extensive work experience in software engineering and development. Tao started their career in 1997 at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (now PARC, Inc.) as a Senior Member of Research Staff, conducting scientific research in social technologies. In 2001, they joined Xerox Corp as an Engineering Manager for Advanced Technology & Services and Advanced Technology, where they managed developers, quality engineers, and technical writers to deliver the first two major releases of a new high-end, highly scalable enterprise content management product. In 2007, they co-founded Content Circles, Inc. and served as Chief Architect, responsible for overall technical leadership including product vision, roadmap, strategy, and execution. In 2009, they became Director of Engineering at BioImagene Inc. (later acquired by Roche - Ventana Medical Systems), where they created PathXchange.org, a global online pathology community. In 2011, they joined Microsoft as a Principal Software Engineer, developing Skype Web calling platform to power Facebook Video Calling and a suite of Microsoft Web collaboration products. In 2013, they co-founded Kaybus and served as Chief Architect, responsible for architecting and developing a new SaaS product. In 2015, they co-founded Synapse.ai and served as CTO, building and leading a team to develop a voice first, natural language understanding (NLU) product for highly mobile professionals. In 2016, they joined NIO as Director, Machine Learning & Platform Software, leading the end-to-end development of 2nd-gen cockpit platform. In 2020, they joined Mojo Vision Inc. as VP of Software Engineering, leading the architecting and development of an end-to-end “Eye OS” for AR contact-lens.

Tao Liang has a Ph.D. in Engineering Design from Stanford University School of Engineering, which they obtained from 1997 to 2001. Tao also has a M.S. in Engineering Design from Stanford University School of Engineering, which they obtained from 1995 to 1997. Liang also holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University College of Engineering, which they obtained from 1991 to 1995. Additionally, Liang has obtained several certifications, including a Certified Professional Scrum Master from Scrum.org in August 2011, an Akamai Certified Web Applications Administrator from Akamai in September 2009, and an Emerging Leaders Program from the Center for Creative Leadership in April 2004.
