Palak Sheth

Associate Director, Bioinformatics/ngs at Molecular Assemblies

Palak Sheth has extensive experience in the field of bioinformatics, with a career spanning multiple companies. They began their career at Illumina in 2012, where they provided technical and scientific bioinformatics support for Illumina NGS platforms and software packages. They also led customer experimental design and served as a key contact person between field staff and software developers.

In 2014, Palak joined BioNano Genomics, Inc. as a Bioinformatics Support Scientist and later became a Product Manager. In this role, they provided technical and scientific support for the Irys genome mapping platform and software packages. They also served as a liaison between the Computation Biology and Software development groups, providing customer feedback and prioritizing development. Additionally, Palak was responsible for product launches, including software and hardware integration.

Palak then moved to Trovagene in 2016, where they worked as a Staff Scientist and later as a Senior Scientist in bioinformatics. At Trovagene, they contributed to the development of bioinformatics solutions and supported various projects.

In 2017, Palak joined Human Longevity, Inc. as a Senior Bioinformatics Data Engineer. They were involved in the development and implementation of a Spark-based ETL solution for integrating and standardizing annotation databases. They also developed algorithms for variant list generation and established coding and documentation standards.

From 2019 to 2022, Palak worked at Twist Bioscience as a Senior Bioinformatics Engineer and later as a Manager of Bioinformatics Engineering. They were responsible for bioinformatics interpretation tool development and utilized technologies such as Docker, AWS, Apache Spark, and Databricks. They also worked on Big Data Genomics and implemented CI/CD workflows.

Most recently, Palak joined Singular Genomics in 2022 as a Senior Staff Scientist in bioinformatics. They contributed to the company's bioinformatics efforts before transitioning to their current role as Associate Director of Bioinformatics at Molecular Assemblies, Inc.

Palak Sheth completed a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, with a start year of 2003 and an end year of 2006. Following this, Palak pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Bioinformatics from the same institute, with a start year of 2011 and an end year of 2012.
