Athene Giesen

Athene Giesen, PhD has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Athene started their career as an Intern in Geoecology at the Helmholtz Association. Athene then worked as a Student Employee in the Molecular Ecology Group at the University of Koblenz-Landau before moving on to an Internship in Molecular Ecology at Eawag. Athene then completed an Internship in GIS at RLP AgroScience GmbH and an Internship in Molecular Biology at Julius Kuehn-Institut.

Athene pursued their PhD in Evolutionbiology at the University of Zurich, where they focused on reproductive isolation and population differentiation in dung fly species.

After completing their PhD, Athene worked as a Junior Consultant and later as a Consultant at DHC AG, specializing in Computer System Validation and IT Compliance.

Currently, they are employed at Molecular Partners as an IT Compliance Manager and later as an Associate Director IT Compliance. In these roles, they are responsible for managing IT compliance systems, ensuring data integrity, and developing processes and frameworks related to data security and business continuity. Athene is also actively involved in the digital evolution of the company and serves as an electronic archivist.

Athene Giesen, PhD, has a diverse education history. Athene began their academic journey at the University of Koblenz and Landau, where they obtained a Master's degree in Environmental Sciences from 2009 to 2013. Following this, they pursued a PhD in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Zurich, where they were a PhD student from 2013 to 2017.

In addition to their formal education, Athene has also obtained various certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. Athene is certified in Cybersecurity by (ISC)² since April 2023 and has completed EC-Council's Certified Chief Information Security Officer training in December 2022. Athene also obtained the ITIL Foundation Level certification from PeopleCert in January 2022 and received training in Cybersecurity Risk Management from The Knowledge Academy in October 2021. Athene further enhanced their expertise by obtaining the ISO 27001 Foundation certification from The Knowledge Academy in August 2021.

Athene has also pursued certifications beyond the field of cybersecurity. Athene completed a course on Learning Personal Branding offered by LinkedIn in July 2020 and acquired knowledge in Good Clinical Practice through GCP Central in March 2020. Additionally, they gained proficiency in PRINCE2 project management methodology through Maxpert GmbH in November 2017 and obtained training in Good Laboratory Practice from the University of Koblenz and Landau in April 2010.
