Molecular Programme Manager at Mologic

Lucy Beales is the Molecular Programme Manager at Mologic. Lucy has over 25 years of experience in virology and vaccine development.

Lucy started their career as a Research Assistant at the Kennedy Institute for Rheumatology, where they worked on developing a vaccine for rheumatoid arthritis. Lucy then went on to complete their PhD at the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC). After their PhD, they worked as a Post-doctoral Scientist at the University of Leeds, researching RNA translation and developing electron microscopy techniques.

In 2003, they were awarded a Keck Foundation Fellowship and moved to the United States to work as a Post-doctoral Scientist at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), researching Hepatitis and developing virology assays. The following year, they moved to Covance, where they managed pre-clinical pharmaceutical studies according to GLP and GMP regulations.

In 2006, they became the Team Leader for Vaccine Development at iQur Ltd, where they oversaw the development of vaccines for a range of diseases including influenza, HPV and Ebola. In 2012, they left iQur to set up their own consultancy business, providing scientific advice to clients in the pharmaceutical industry.

In their current role as Molecular Programme Manager at Mologic, Lucy is responsible for the management and delivery of molecular diagnostic products.

Lucy Beales has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Virology from The Open University and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Biology - Biomedical Science from the University of the West of England. Lucy also went to Gloucester High School for Girls.
