Michael is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Module 8, an optical technology company focused on innovative products for filmmakers and content creators. Michael played a significant role in launching their flagship product, The Tuner, which recreates the look and feel of iconic vintage glass.
Prior to their current position, Michael founded and served as the President of Optical Product Development, a results-driven optical systems developer and supply chain management firm. Michael'sexpertise lies in taking conceptual products to market quickly and establishing competitive supply chains. Michael has experience in the rapid development of high-volume and boutique OEM imaging products.
In 2013, Michael joined Moment as a Technical Advisor in Optics and became a seed investor and member of the co-founding team. Moment started as a marketplace for creators, focusing on the Moment Lens system for mobile photography. Over time, it expanded to offer various gear, lessons, and trips for creators.
Before that, Michael worked at AMF Optical Solutions as a Principal Optical Designer. The company specializes in developing OEM and standard products for infrared applications for defense, industrial, and commercial purposes. Michael collaborated with OPDEV to expand into custom and standard lens assemblies.
In 2004, Michael co-founded Hyperion Development, LLC, a company specializing in OEM optical products for cinematography and projection. They developed custom prime and zoom lenses for 4K+ digital cinematography and projection systems.
During their career, Michael has also worked as an Optical Engineering Advisor at Terabeam, where they focused on lens design and analysis for free-space optical systems. Michael worked with reflective, refractive, holographic, and catadioptric systems.
Additionally, Michael worked as a Senior Lens Designer and Fabrication Supervisor at Optikos Corporation. Michael managed a team of lens designers and opticians, overseeing the rapid development of custom lens systems and collaborating with overseas OEM suppliers for cost-effective procurement.
Michael'scareer began at Optics 1, Inc, where they served as a Lens Designer and Optical Engineer. Michael contributed to various optical design and engineering projects, including work in projection displays, simulation systems, and virtual reality optics.
