Joseph Ostroff

Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Momentive

Joseph Ostroff has extensive experience in intellectual property law. Joseph has been working at Momentive Performance Materials since 2007, starting as an Intellectual Property Counsel and progressively moving up to become the Chief Intellectual Property Counsel in October 2019. In this role, they lead the Intellectual Property Legal Department and manages a global team of IP attorneys and paralegals. Joseph is responsible for creating and implementing IP strategies in collaboration with technology and business leaders. Joseph is regarded as a trusted advisor, actively assisting the company in achieving its objectives. Prior to their current position, Joseph worked as an Associate at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox from 2001 to 2007, where they managed, prepared, and prosecuted patent applications and provided IP strategy counsel to clients in various industries. Joseph also brought in new clients and supervised the work of junior attorneys and technical specialists. Before that, Joseph was an Associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP from 1999 to 2001, and at Leydig, Voit & Mayer, Ltd. from 1997 to 1999, where they primarily focused on preparing and prosecuting patent applications and offering client counseling in purification technologies.

Joseph Ostroff has a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from The George Washington University Law School, which they attended from 1994 to 1997. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering at Cornell University from 1990 to 1994. In addition to their educational qualifications, Joseph Ostroff holds various certifications. Joseph is certified in Virginia in 1997, in New Jersey and the District of Columbia in 1998, and in New York in 2008. Joseph also obtained certification from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in 1995.
