John Miller

John represents Momentum as a senior scientist with expertise in the physics of Wireless Power Transmission.

John M. Miller, Ph.D., PE is an industry consultant and founder of JNJ Miller PLC. He recently joined Momentum Dynamics Technical Advisory Board as a senior scientist and was formerly the Director of Power Electronics and Electric Power Systems Research Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He is internationally regarded as one of the world’s leading authorities on the physics of high power Wireless Power Transmission (WPT).

Prior to his tenure with ORNL, Dr. Miller was a member of the technical staff at Texas Instruments and later a research engineer and technical leader at the Ford Motor Company where he worked on electric and hybrid vehicle programs. Dr. Miller is currently an Adjunct Professor at Michigan State University and previously with Texas A&M University. He is past Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Power Electronics Society Newsletter (now magazine), Chairman of the Education and Outreach Committee of KiloFarad International, and he served as IEEE Power Electronics Society and Industry Applications Society distinguished lecturer. He also consults for a leading energy storage company.

He has authored or co-authored six books, more than 180 publications on automotive electrical and electronic systems, and holds 54 U.S. patents. Dr. Miller is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and the recipient of the Henry Ford Technology Award and IEEE’s Kliman Innovator Award. He is a registered professional engineer in Michigan and Texas.
