Paul Ney is the Chief Legal Officer at MOMENTUS. Paul has previously worked as an attorney at Patterson Intellectual Property Law, P.C., the United States Department of Defense, and the Office of the Tennessee Attorney General and Reporter. Paul is a registered patent attorney and a Rule 31 mediator.

Paul Ney graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2006. Paul began their career as a Deputy General Counsel at the United States Department of Defense in 2006, where they advised senior Defense officials on a wide variety of legal questions and managed key litigation matters covering the entire Department of Defense. Paul also coordinated with the White House Counsel's Office, the Department of Justice, and other agencies on the Department’s legal issues. In 2008, they became the Chief Deputy Attorney General at the Office of the Tennessee Attorney General and Reporter, where they supervised the office’s legal team and advised the Attorney General on legal matters.

In 2010, Paul Ney joined Patterson Intellectual Property Law, P.C. as an attorney. Paul litigated intellectual property cases and advised clients on intellectual property law issues. Paul also served as a mediator in patent infringement cases. In 2016, they left Patterson to become the General Counsel of the Department of Defense, where they oversaw all legal matters for the Department of Defense and advised the Secretary of Defense on legal issues. Paul left the Department of Defense in 2021 to join MOMENTUS as its Chief Legal Officer.

Paul Ney has a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School, an MBA in finance from Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management, and a Bachelor of Arts in biology and social sciences from Cornell University. Paul is also a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
