Zachary Omohundro

CTO at Monarch Tractor

Zachary Omohundro is the current Chief Technology Officer at Monarch Tractor. Zachary has previously worked as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at MillenWorks, developing electric cars, intelligent distributed power grids, unmanned vehicle suspension systems and large scale test equipment. Prior to that, they worked as a Doctoral Student at Field Robotics Center, Carnegie Mellon University, where they created Helix, a self-reconfigurable, mobile, subterranean modeling robot deployable down six inch diameter boreholes. Zachary also developed CaveCrawler, a four-wheel drive, four-wheel steer, mobile modeling robot with body averaging suspension. In addition, they designed Ferret, a spherical coverage laser range finder under 2.5 inches in diameter. Zachary also built Groundhog, a robust underground exploration system which autonomously acquired models and maps of abandoned mines. Zachary led the subterranean robotics group in weekly meetings, identifying business opportunities, and generating proposals while also serving as primary system developer, mechanical designer, fabricator and field technician. Before that, they worked as an Engineer for Robotics and Remote Systems at Oceaneering Space Systems.

Zachary Omohundro has a PhD in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, an MS in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, and a BS in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (BSME, BSEE) from Rice University.
