Geraldine Johns-Putra was appointed to the Monash University Council in 2019.
Geraldine is a graduate of Monash University and a partner of MinterEllison. As a lawyer with over 20 years' experience in Australia, Asia and the UK, she advises on corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions.
She specialises in evolving corporate governance matters, including ESG (environmental, social and governance), directors' duties in managing multiple stakeholder interests, and the intersection of business and human rights.
Geraldine spent almost a decade working in Shanghai and Hong Kong and her professional experience extends to legal issues that are key to organisations operating in the Greater China region.
She supports and participates in mentoring and development programs for the not-for-profit sector and educational initiatives for young people. She has been a supporter and the principal sponsor of the national junior elite training squad for chess players for over ten years.
