Michelle Van Staden (nee Diab)

Michelle Van Staden (nee Diab) has a diverse work history spanning various roles and industries. Michelle is currently the Vice President Client Impact at Sun Life since August 2022. Prior to that, they were the CEO & co-founder of Moneymie from November 2021 onwards. Michelle also served as a Member of the IoDSA from December 2021 to August 2022.

In terms of previous experience, Michelle held the position of Executive: Digital Fast Lane at Nedbank from August 2017 to August 2022. Before that, they were the Head of Claims at Mutual & Federal from July 2015 to August 2017.

Michelle has a long-standing history with Nedbank, having worked in multiple roles. These include Head positions in Loyalty & Rewards, Cross-Sell, and Retention, Retail Sales and Retention, as well as General Manager of Lean initiatives. Michelle was responsible for leading the branch and channel business lean transformation, overseeing the annual business planning cycle, and managing various business units. Michelle also worked at Capital One Nedcor Alliance as a Senior Project Manager from 2003 to 2006.

Michelle Van Staden (nee Diab) has a comprehensive education history that spans several prestigious institutions and fields of study. Michelle obtained a Bachelor of Business Science (honors) degree in Finance and General Business/Commerce from the University of Cape Town in 2002. In 2012, Michelle completed the Manager of Function Development Programme at Duke University, focusing on Organizational Leadership.

In 2014, Michelle pursued further education at INSEAD, where they obtained a TGM (Transition to General Management) certificate in Business Administration and Management. Most recently, they enrolled in the MIT Sloan School of Management, where they are currently pursuing an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General. This program is expected to be completed in 2023.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Michelle has also earned several certifications to enhance their professional skills. In 2018, they became a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) through the Agile Scrum Alliance™. Michelle also obtained the SAFe Programme Consultant 5 certification in 2020 from the Scaled Agile Framework Certification Training. Michelle's most recent certification is as a Certified Director, acquired in December 2021 through the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IoDSA).
