Chris Luiz has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. In 2010, they founded their own business consulting firm, where they helped clients collaborate and develop cross-functional relationships. From 2011 to 2015, they founded and managed BR Media, a successful company that achieved a million dollars in sales and expanded to multiple cities.
In 2012, Chris joined IX Power Clean Water, Inc. as the Water Products Manager, where they guided the development and launch of innovative products for providing clean water in developing regions.
In 2016, they pursued further education in data science and completed a Data Science Fellowship at Galvanize Inc. During this time, they gained expertise in machine learning, statistical inference, and working with data at scale.
Following their fellowship, Chris worked as a Data Scientist at Insights Lab, an internal startup at the Denver Post. Chris delivered qualitative and quantitative research solutions to the company's various departments and advertising clients.
In 2017, Chris joined Progressive Insurance as a Data Scientist, focusing on projects related to fraud detection, estimatics, subrogation, and cost reduction in injury claims. Chris later transitioned to the role of Product Manager for the ML Platform, where they led staffing initiatives, reported on AI trends, and provided consulting on AI and ML adoption across the enterprise.
Recently, Chris has held positions at Monitaur as Director of Solutions and Success, Pavilion as a Member, and SharpestMinds as a Mentor, assisting data scientists with their career development. Chris has also taken on the role of Cleveland Area Organizer at InsurTech Ohio, demonstrating their passion for organizing and community involvement.
Chris Luiz completed a Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from DePaul University. Chris has also obtained several additional certifications, including an Executive Data Science Specialization from Coursera Course Certificates in March 2016, Reviews & Metrics for Software Improvements from Coursera Course Certificates in February 2016, Agile Planning for Software Products from Coursera Course Certificates in January 2016, Client Needs and Software Requirements from Coursera Course Certificates in January 2016, Introduction to Software Product Management from Coursera Course Certificates in December 2015, Software Processes and Agile Practices from Coursera Course Certificates in December 2015, A Crash Course in Data Science from Coursera Course Certificates in October 2015, Building a Data Science Team from Coursera Course Certificates in October 2015, Data Science in Real Life from Coursera Course Certificates in October 2015, Managing Data Analysis from Coursera Course Certificates in October 2015, and Software Product Management Specialization from Coursera Course Certificates in October 2015.
