Hj Mai

HJ Mai is an accomplished editor, reporter, and producer currently working at NPR since September 2019, contributing to the flagship morning show Morning Edition and the podcast Up First. Additionally, HJ Mai serves as the U.S. Political Correspondent for taz, die Tageszeitung, and engages in freelance reporting for several outlets, including Monocle and detektor.fm. Prior experience includes roles as a News Reporter for Deutsche Presse-Agentur and a Digital Editor for WTOP News. HJ Mai holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Oregon and is pursuing a Master of Arts in Political Science and Government at FernUniversität in Hagen.
