Joe Marshall

Joe Marshall has extensive work experience in the field of Information Technology. Joe began their career in 1995 as a Project Engineer at Tech Data, where they managed server and network teams and designed complete Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, and Exchange environments for clients. Joe then worked as a Network Engineer at Optimal Networks from 2000 to 2004.

In 2004, Joe joined Frederick Community College as the Executive Director of Network, Information Security, and Telecommunications. During their tenure, they managed a team responsible for the college's network and server infrastructure, telecommunications systems, and campus-wide software systems. This included various technologies such as Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V, Office 365, Nortel Communication Server, and SonicWALL.

From 2010 onwards, Joe worked at the University of Maryland Global Campus as a CMIT Adjunct Professor, teaching Microsoft certification courses and adapting to new curriculum changes.

Joe joined Montgomery College in 2017, initially serving as the IT Campus Manager for Workforce Development & Continuing Education. Joe provided leadership in campus-level technology efforts, focusing on virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) to support the community's demand for workforce training and continuing education courses.

At Montgomery College, Joe also took on the role of Systems Engineering Manager, leading a team of Systems Engineers who supported the college's physical and virtual server infrastructure, as well as the Microsoft 365 suite. This role involved managing a complex environment consisting of VMware and Hyper-V virtualization, Dell blade servers, NetApp storage, and Dell hyperconverged appliances.

Most recently, Joe became the Director of Data Center Operations at Montgomery College, where they continue to contribute their expertise in managing data center operations.

Joe Marshall has a strong educational background in technology and computer technology. Joe obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Technology Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2009, following a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Technology from the same institution in 2007. Prior to that, they received an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Applied Science and Technology from the College of Southern Maryland in 1995. Additionally, Joe has several certifications including Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator, AZ-900 Azure Fundamentals, Data Center Infrastructure Specialist, Data Center Operations Manager, Data Center Operations Specialist, MCSE 2016, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+, and CompTIA Security+.
