Trey McHazlett

Trey McHazlett is an Associate at Montieth & Company. Prior to that, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Texas Tech University from August 2020 to December 2021. There, they were responsible for reviewing and updating faculty bio’s and background information, creating feature stories highlighting faculty, students, and upcoming events, and facilitating worldwide surveys encompassing domestic and international communication colleges.

Before their time at Texas Tech University, Trey worked as a Reporter at The Daily Toreador from January 2020 to March 2020. There, they were responsible for generating unique, urgent and interesting topics to bring to the public, conducting in person interviews including advance research of subject matter, and collecting information on assigned topics to report accurate and timely news, write print-ready articles.

Lastly, Trey also has experience working in Public Relations. Trey interned at James Avery Artisan Jewelry from June 2019 to July 2019 where they provided support to plan, execute and analyze digital marketing campaigns including paid search, video display, banner display and paid product listings; provided support to plan, execute and analyze cause marketing campaigns, research nonprofit organizations for potential partnership and sponsorships opportunities; provided support with processing charitable in-kind donations in accordance with donation guidelines, research and gather information from nonprofit organizations to assess needs, mission, etc.; tracked James Avery media across news, web and social media through various alert tools and kept manager apprised of all information; coordinated with Social Media team for cohesive storytelling opportunities; coordinated news releases with newswire, internal and external contacts, and local media according to publicity protocol; assisted in writing of news

Trey McHazlett has a Master's degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Texas Tech University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication from the same school. Trey also spent time studying at Sorbonne University, where they took courses in French Civilization.
