Brandon Johnson

Brandon Johnson is a Senior Software Engineer at Moov Financial. Brandon previously worked at Lucerna Health from June 2020 to October 2020 as a Senior Software and Data Engineer.

At Lucerna, Brandon led a team of engineers in building a deeply-integrated process monitoring flow in Python and AWS, to track metrics, logs, and states. This required Django API endpoints, Spark/Glue integration, Lambda functions, an SQS queue, SNS topics, S3 event triggers, CloudWatch metrics, and React UI pages.

Brandon also led a team of engineers on a data orchestration flow, which featured the ability to configure data extraction from a list of database types, given database connection details and a customer-provided SQL query. The extracted data would then be dropped into a data processing pipeline, which ran through several transformation steps including mapping, cleaning, wrangling, enrichment, and analysis.

Some of Brandon's other accomplishments at Lucerna include developing batch processing ETL data pipelines with Python and Spark, and deploying them to AWS. The AWS Glue jobs utilized S3 as a data warehouse and went through several steps in an AWS Step Functions state machine, moving data between S3, Athena, and Redshift.

Brandon Johnson's educational career includes a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Utah and a Management Information Systems degree from the same school. Brandon also has certifications from HackerRank in Ruby (intermediate) skill assessment, from the University of Utah in Bachelor of Science Degree, and from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in AWS Certified Developer - Associate (DVA).
