Matt Flood

Chief Engineer at Moran Towing

Matt Flood has diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Matt started their career as a Sailmaker/Designer at Sobstad Sailmakers, where they gained expertise in sailmaking and design. Matt then worked as an Engineer at Sheridan Transportation, where they upgraded their position from 3rd Assistant Engineer to Chief Engineer. During their time at Sheridan Transportation, they sailed on ITB vessels between New York and St. Petersburg.

Following this, Flood joined McAllister Towing as Chief Engineer, primarily serving on the tugboat Bruce McAllister. Matt later worked at Brewer Pilot's Point Marina as a Rigger, responsible for dealing with customers' boats and performing various tasks such as handling steering systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Additionally, they worked part-time at the yard during breaks from their tugboat duties.

Flood then moved to K-Sea Transportation, Inc., assuming the role of Chief Engineer on multiple vessels such as Norwegian Sea, North Sea, McKinley Sea, and the coastal tanker Great Gull. Matt attended multiple shipyard periods in this position.

Currently, Flood is Chief Engineer onboard the ATB Lois Ann L. Moran at Moran Towing and Transportation. Matt has attended multiple shipyards in their role as Chief Engineer.

Overall, Flood has extensive experience in different maritime roles, ranging from sailmaking to engineering and rigging.

Matt Flood attended the State University of New York Maritime College from 1976 to 1981, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture.
