Marc Nicolas Faber

Marc Nicolas Faber is a Research Scientist at Moredun Research Institute since September 2020 and serves as Treasurer for the Young Aquaculture Society since December 2023. Faber completed a PhD in Zoology at the University of Aberdeen, focusing on fish immunology, vaccine development, and parasite-host interactions. In this role, Faber contributed to the PARAFISHCONTROL project, characterizing the transcriptome of Tetracapsuloides bryosalmonae to develop treatments for Proliferative Kidney Disease in rainbow trout. Faber’s previous experience includes a Research Assistant position on a BBSRC funded fellowship focusing on immunization against disease in trout, and a Scientific Research Assistant role at the University of Wuerzburg, Germany, characterizing factors affecting colorectal carcinoma cell lines. Educational background includes a Master of Science in Fishery Science and Aquaculture from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Heidelberg University. Skills encompass human sterile cell culture, stimulation assays, protein extraction, and various laboratory techniques.
