Erin M. Edlund is the current Vice President for University Engagement at Morningside College. Erin has held this position for 4 years and 6 months, during which time they have been responsible for overall communications, research-based messaging, marketing, and branding activity for Morningside. Erin has also served as the chief marketing and communications officer and member of the senior leadership team. In these roles, they have represented and promoted Morningside, increasing visibility and supporting the institution’s mission, vision and goals.
Erin has developed and nurtured Morningside’s brand vision, strategy, and media relations campaigns to attract the students and their families, motivate alumni and donors, and recruit high quality faculty and staff. Erin has also overseen sports information, marketing, communications, media relations, web development, digital strategy, campus publications, the print shop, and mail room. In addition, Erin has provided strategic direction and coordinated marketing and communications produced by other academic and administrative units.
Some of Erin’s accomplishments during their time at Morningside include establishing Morningside's first strategic marketing department, developing internal mechanisms to raise the visibility and understanding of marketing efforts, launching a new independent athletics website, establishing a close working relationship with the enrollment management team, developing a strong working relationship with the Morningside advancement team, completing a full audit of the college's website content, implementing a strategic social media plan that increased engagement by more than 300%, testing new digital efforts, and collaborating with the public relations department to reimagine Morningside's news website.
Erin M. Edlund has a PhD in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a Master of Business Communication from the University of St. Thomas - Opus College of Business, and a Journalism & Mass Communications degree from Drake University. Erin also has an Education degree from Iowa Lakes Community College and a Diploma from Algona High School.
