Richard Kennedy has had a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. In 1974, they worked as a Cartographer at the Central Intelligence Agency. After that, they joined THETA DELTA CHI in 1972 as a Recording Secretary, where they served until 1976. From 1985 to 1995, they were a Client at Trafford R. Cole Genealogical Research. In 1992, they became the Mayor of the City of Des Moines, Washington, and held this position until 1995. Starting in 2006, they served as the Secretary of the Washington Geographic Alliance. In 1978, they joined The Boeing Company as the Lead-Program Management Information Systems, and they are still currently employed there. Most recently, they became the Chief Technology Officer at Morpac Industries, Inc. in 2018. Throughout their career, they have also been a Life Member of the National Geographic Society.
Richard Kennedy has a diverse education history, with degrees and certifications in various fields. Richard obtained a Certificate in C# Programming from UW Professional & Continuing Education in 2014-2015. In 2008-2009, they also acquired a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the same institution. Prior to these certificates, Richard pursued higher education. Richard earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Geodetic Science from The Ohio State University from 1976 to 1978. Before that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Geography from the University of Washington from 1972 to 1976. Additionally, Richard obtained a certification in Fundraising Management from the University of Washington in June 2009.
