Alberto Millán Acosta

Alberto Millán Acosta has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. Alberto is currently working as a Scientist at Mosa Meat since October 2021. Prior to this, they worked at the Universitat de Lleida from 2016 to 2021, where they began as a PhD Student with a focus on designing novel bioprocesses for the recycling and valorization of lignocellulosic biomass and food processing by-products. During this time, they conducted research on the removal of toxic compounds derived from biomass pretreatment, fungal cell culture, and biotransformation of toxic compounds into added-value derivatives. Alberto'srole also involved the identification of volatile organic compounds produced by microorganisms and the production and biotransformation of terpenes using fungi isolated from food waste.

In 2020, Alberto Millán Acosta was a Guest PhD Student at DTU - Technical University of Denmark for a four-month period. Here, they contributed to the design and setup of fermentation experiments, along with the design of a novel method for the simultaneous detoxification and fermentation of lignocellulosic hydrolysates using microbial co-cultures. Alberto also gained experience in the scale-up of fermentation processes in bioreactors.
