Nicholas Ursa

Nicholas Ursa is a Co-Founding Engineer at MotherDuck. Nicholas was previously a Staff Software Engineer at Better from January 2022 to July 2022, where they were a Tech Lead for the Data Platform. Nicholas was also a Senior Software Engineer at The New York Times from April 2016 to August 2018, where they were the Tech Lead for the new Data Warehouse. Prior to that, they were a Lead Data Engineer at PulsePoint from September 2011 to September 2013 and a Sr. Software Engineer at ContextWeb from July 2008 to September 2011. Nicholas was also a Development Team Lead at Empirical from September 2007 to July 2008.

Nicholas Ursa has a Master of Science in Computer Science with a focus in Machine Learning from Columbia University. Nicholas also has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Composition from the University of Toronto. Additionally, they have a certification from Cloudera in Certified Hadoop Developer and a certification from Scrum Alliance in ScrumMaster.
