Eryk Nice is the current Vice President of Technology Strategy at [Motional](/org/motional). Prior to this, they served as Vice President of Next Generation Technology Planning at Hyundai-Aptiv Autonomous Driving Joint Venture from April 2020 to August 2020. From April 2019 to April 2020, they were the Vice President of Autonomous Systems, Autonomous Mobility at [Aptiv](/org/aptiv). Eryk was also the Vice President of Autonomous Systems at nuTonomy from July 2017 to April 2019.

Eryk began their career at Amazon Robotics in March 2005, where they eventually became the Director and Program Lead of Advanced Programs. In this role, they led a team of hardware engineers, solutions designers, systems & performance engineers, product and program managers, infrastructure engineers, operations support roles, and software engineers responsible for the development, testing, deployment, and support of next-generation fulfillment center designs. Under their leadership, the team achieved record-setting labor savings at full-scale production site and successfully transitioned numerous demonstrated improvements to mainline fulfillment centers for network-wide adoption.

In 2015, Eryk took over leadership of the Advanced Programs team after the departure of [Kiva](/org/kiva)’s founder. Eryk was responsible for incorporating 3rd party robotics initiatives into new next-gen designs that were ultimately adopted as Amazon’s formal strategic vision for fulfillment node designs. Eryk also re-organized the team as part of the establishment of an Automation & Robotics Technology group chartered with advancing the robotic integration and control

Gretchen Effgen is the current Vice President of Go to Market and Marketing at [Motional](/org/motional). Prior to this, they were with Coord, and before that, they were with nuTonomy as the VP of Partnerships. Gretchen has been instrumental in driving strategy and shareholder value as a key member of the leadership team of a rapidly growing global autonomous vehicle technology company. Gretchen has led go-to-market strategy, strategic partnerships, business development, deployments and marketing communications. Gretchen has also developed a comprehensive go-to-market plan and data driven process to evaluate revenue potential and market entry timing. In addition, they have spearhead commercialization strategy building unprecedented industry partnerships with ride-sharing companies [Lyft](/org/lyft) and Via, as well as major automotive OEMs, transportation networks, data companies and fleet management businesses. Gretchen has also directed a high-impact transformation of commercial approach and financial model. Gretchen was the first hired commercial executive of original company nuTonomy and collaborated with Founder/CEO to raise Series B funding and led operational integration upon $450M acquisition by public automotive supplier [Delphi](/org/delphi) (now [Aptiv](/org/aptiv)).

Joaquin Nuño-Whelan is currently the VP of Hardware at [Motional](/org/motional). Prior to this, they were the Vice President of Fleet Engineering at [May Mobility](/org/may-mobility) from October 2019 to August 2020. Their focus was on product development consulting and STEAM ecosystems. Joaquin has also worked as a Chief Engineer at [General Motors](/org/general-motors) from June 2015 to January 2019. There, they led all business and technical decisions for GM's franchise vehicle program. Joaquin is skilled in guiding all marketing, manufacturing, engineering, design, and performance integration activity from early market research to full scale assembly.

Karl Iagnemma is the President & CEO of Motional. Karl was previously the President and CEO of the Hyundai-Aptiv Autonomous Driving Joint Venture from March 2020 to August 2020. Prior to that, they were the President, Autonomous Mobility at [Aptiv](/org/aptiv) from November 2017 to March 2020. Karl was also the CEO and Co-Founder of nuTonomy from August 2013 to November 2017.
