Shawn Murphy has a varied work experience in the veterinary field. Starting in 2003, Shawn worked as a Kennel Technician and Client Care Representative at Bryan Animal Hospital, where they were responsible for maintaining kennel facilities, feeding, medicating, and invoicing. In 2008, Shawn became a Veterinary Technician at Columbus Central Veterinary Hospital until 2012. During this time, Shawn developed skills in veterinary care. In 2012, Shawn joined NorthStar VETS, a 24/7 emergency and referral animal hospital, as an ER/ICU Veterinary Nurse, specializing in ophthalmology. Shawn provided care in the emergency department as well. Since November 2017, Shawn has been working at Mount Laurel Animal Hospital, first as a Nursing Supervisor and later as the Director of Primary Care.

Shawn Murphy earned their Bachelor's degree in Pre-Veterinary Studies from Rutgers University between 2009 and 2012. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Biology, General from Rowan College at Burlington County between 2007 and 2009. Shawn completed their high school education at Burlington Twp High School, graduating with a High School Diploma in Education in the years 2003 to 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Shawn Murphy has also obtained certifications in Animal CPR and First Aid from Pet Tech Middlesex County, NJ in February 2010. Furthermore, they became a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in August 2013.
