Alison Sowden

A native of Los Angeles, Alison Sowden is a trustee at Mount Saint Mary's University. Alison has also served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Art Institute of Chicago, the Director of Personnel and Adminstrative Services at the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the Controller and Assistant Treasurer at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation, Inc.

Sowden began their career in 1982 as the Controller and Assistant Treasurer at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation, Inc. Alison moved to the J. Paul Getty Museum in 1985, where they served as the Director of Personnel and Adminstrative Services for five years. In 1990, they joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Alison held this position for three years before moving to The Art Institute of Chicago in April 2014. Alison served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at The Art Institute of Chicago for three and a half years before joining Mount Saint Mary's University as a trustee.

Alison Sowden earned a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Temple University.
