Dr. Marsha E. Nickerson

Dr. Marsha E. Nickerson has a diverse work experience in the field of nursing and education. Dr. Marsha E. currently serves as the Interim Director of Nursing of the MSN Program and an Associate Professor at Mount Saint Mary's University, where they provide theoretical and clinical instruction. Dr. Marsha E. also develops and teaches in-person, hybrid, and online courses, and holds various responsibilities such as a Senior Level Clinical Lead, Lead faculty for leadership and management, and Co-Chair of the Events Committee.

In addition to their role at the university, Dr. Nickerson has also worked as a COVID-19 Response Public Health Nurse for the City of Pasadena. Dr. Marsha E. was also a Travel Medicine Nurse Specialist at Passport Health, where they conducted travel risk assessments, provided health consultations, and educated clients on vaccine recommendations and safety precautions for international travel.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Nickerson served as a Clinical Nurse Educator at St. Vincent Medical Center, a Flu Shot Registry Nurse at Maxim Healthcare Services, and a Nursing Supervisor at Villa Esperanza Services. Dr. Marsha E. also worked as an Adjunct Faculty and Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator at Glendale Community College and as a Faith Community Health Nurse at Queen of Angels Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center Inc.

Dr. Marsha E. Nickerson has a comprehensive education history. Dr. Marsha E. obtained their Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in Learning Technologies and Instructional Design from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology from 2017 to 2020. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Nursing degree in Chronic Illness Care Clinical Nurse Specialist from UCLA between 1992 and 1994. Dr. Marsha E. also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary's University, which they earned from 1990 to 1992. Dr. Nickerson began their nursing education at Santa Monica College, where they achieved an Associate Arts degree in Nursing from 1987 to 1990. Dr. Marsha E.'sfoundational education began at Pacific Palisades High School, where they received a High School Diploma from 1979 to 1982. Additionally, they pursue continuing education through various faculty development activities in Nursing Education. Dr. Nickerson also holds certifications, including COVID 19 Case Investigation and Contact Tracing from JOHN HOPKINS UNIVERSITY in 2020, Certified Nearpod Educator from Nearpod in 2019, Registered Nurse certification from the State of California in 1990, Public Health Nurse certification from the State of California in 1992, and Certified Program Leader Training in Friday Night at the ER Team Learning Simulation from Breakthrough Learning.
